FREE Photography Workshop with HISTORIA at BLANK
ReMap is an arts initiative led by HISTORIA – a collective of Brighton based photographic artists. After meeting on the Photography MA at University of Brighton, Barbara Taylor, Lynn Weddle and Lindsey Smith set up HISTORIA as a way of creating opportunities to make and exhibit new work. Working in partnership with BLANK Studios and Gallery in Portslade, the group are developing a project plan for an 8-week residency later in the year. As part of the project the group will be running a free workshop using digital photography and QR Codes on Saturday 18 February 2012.
HISTORIA is keen to work with people in Portslade. Anyone with a connection to the area is invited to join the artists to explore collective memory and experience of place. The workshop will involve mapping out the local area by sharing stories and photographing places of personal importance. Participant’s photographs will be exhibited in an online gallery and will provide inspiration for the project’s development.
HISTORIA is in the process of applying for funding with the intention of taking part in Brighton Photo Fringe in October 2012. The project will include a program of workshops, events and an exhibition at BLANK.
